Treasury Gardens
Historic lawns and lake beside Parliament House
East Melbourne
About
Treasury Gardens is one of Victoria’s oldest public gardens, a short walk from Parliament House in East Melbourne. Avenues of Moreton Bay figs and elms, lawns, an ornamental lake with ducks, and the Victorian Emergency Services Memorial give families a shady central-city pause. There is no playground here — use it for a picnic and a lake walk, then continue to Fitzroy Gardens if you want play equipment. Trams 48 and 75 along Flinders Street, or walk from Flinders Street Station.
Good to know
Treasury Gardens is heritage-listed (VHR H1842), set aside in 1851 and developed from 1867.
