The State Library of Western Australia sits in the Perth Cultural Centre on Francis Street. Families can browse collections, use public computers, and join children's programs such as story time. Regular hours are Monday to Thursday 9am to 8pm, Friday 9am to 5.30pm, and weekends 10am to 5.30pm. It is closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day 2026.

Story Time & Play Time is designed for pre-schoolers and their carers, with interactive stories followed by play-based literacy and learning. Rhyme Time & Play Time offers songs, rhymes and stories for babies and their families, followed by Play Time.
