Group visits
As a small venue, guided tours should be booked in advance for groups. Walk-in group admission is subject to management discretion and other bookings.
Getting here
Parliament Station is the closest train stop. Nearby tram services include Collins Street routes 11, 12, 35, 48 and 109, and Bourke Street routes 86 and 96.
Parking
There is no on-site parking. Metered parking is available in Macarthur Street and St Andrews Place, with secure parking also available in Flinders Lane and at Park Hyatt.
Before you visit
Large backpacks must be cloaked at reception. Photography is permitted in exhibition spaces without flash for personal, non-commercial use. Food and drinks other than water are not permitted in exhibition spaces.
2026 public holiday closures
Closed on Good Friday (3 April), Easter Sunday (5 April), AFL Grand Final Parade Friday (25 September), Melbourne Cup Tuesday (3 November) and Christmas Day (25 December).

The Old Treasury Building, designed by architect JJ Clark, was constructed to store gold bullion during Victoria's gold rush in the 1850s. It now features a collection of historic documents and hosts exhibitions reflecting Melbourne's history. Public tours are available on the last Sunday of each month, with fees applicable. The building is open to visitors from 10am to 4pm, except on Saturdays.
