At Thirlmere, families can walk through historic locomotives and carriages, then add a weekend heritage train ride on the Loop Line. The museum is open 10am–4pm on weekdays and 9am–5pm on weekends. Museum-only tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children aged 2–17; under twos enter free. There is a kiosk, picnic lawns and step-free museum access, though heritage trains cannot take prams or non-folding wheelchairs onboard.
