Half Moon Bay is a small Black Rock beach under Red Bluff, with clear water and views to the HMVS Cerberus wreck offshore. Road access is from Beach Road down Cerberus Way to the lower car park beside Half Moon Bay Surf Life Saving Club. Council lists parking, a boat ramp, jetty, restaurant and takeaway nearby. Volunteer lifesavers patrol on summer weekends and holidays. Beach matting is currently unavailable because of erosion; floating beach wheelchairs can still be booked during patrol hours.

Getting there
Road access is from Beach Road down Cerberus Way. There are accessible car spaces in the lower car park, including one beside the beach.
Beach matting
Council’s accessibility page (checked 2026-09-13) says access matting is not in place at Half Moon Bay until further notice because of erosion. Hampton Beach still has matting.
Beach wheelchairs
Floating beach wheelchairs are available during lifesaving patrols, generally noon to 5pm Saturdays and Sundays in December, January and February. Enquire on (03) 9555 4444 in business hours.
Summer patrols
Volunteer lifesavers patrol Half Moon Bay on weekends and holidays in summer.
