About

Balyang Sanctuary is a nine-hectare lakeside reserve in Newtown, with native bushland and islands used by nesting waterbirds. Families picnic and sit by the lake, then join the Barwon River walking and cycling path. Council lists picnic areas, toilets and free parking at Marnock Road. Look for black swans, pelicans, ducks and cormorants. Dogs must stay on leash unless a sign says otherwise.
