Ballarat Botanical Gardens is a heritage-listed 40-hectare botanic garden and arboretum on the western shore of Lake Wendouree. Families can explore extensive plant collections, garden features, marble statues, Prime Ministers busts, commemorative plaques, the Conservatory floral display and self-guided seasonal tours.

Seasonal closing time
The gardens close at 6 pm during Australian Eastern Standard Time and 9 pm during daylight saving.
Conservatory
The Robert Clark Conservatory is normally open daily from 9 am to 6 pm, closes Christmas Day and can close for floral changeovers or maintenance.
Current works
Irrigation-renewal work is scheduled through October or November 2026. The gardens remain open, but temporary fencing and short access changes may occur.
