About

Altona Beach is a calm Esplanade beach in Melbourne’s west, with year-round beach matting — council says the first in Australia — plus barbecues, amenities and a shared path under Norfolk pines linking to the Hobsons Bay Coastal Trail. Weaver’s Reserve has an accessible change facility with a hoist. Beach wheelchairs are free to hire on summer weekends from 12pm to 5pm. Altona Station is about 500 metres via Pier Street. A separate dog beach sits further along near PA Burns Reserve.
